Charles M. Thiessen

Charles Thiessen, 84, of Lincoln, died Friday, July 10, 2009, in Lincoln. Manpower Specialist for the Nebraska Department of Labor. He was a WWII Army veteran, member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. He received the Bonze Star, Silver Star, French and Belgian Croix de Guerre, Purple Heart medals and Award for Valor and Service from Omaha Beach on D-Day to Berlin at the end of WWII. He was active in politics. Family includes: wife, Margaret, Lincoln; Son and daughter-n-law, Charles and Stella Thiessen, Lincoln; daughter and son-in-law, Norma Thiessen and Norman McFarling, Lincoln; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Bennet, Viera, Fla. and Shirley Bellamy, Eaton, Colo. Visitation: 2 - 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. 3:00 p.m. Funeral Service: Tuesday, (7/14/09) at Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, 245 N. 27th Street, Lincoln. Private burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. Memorials to Disabled American Veterans.
